The USABA National Marathon Championships, sponsored by VSP Vision Care, take part in conjunction with the California International Marathon on December 8, 2013.  Since the CIM adopted the Visually Impaired Division in 2007, participation of visually impaired and blind runners has steadily grown from 2 to more than 30 participants.  Runners travel from across the United States and from other nations.  Participants include blinded veterans, Paralympic athletes, World Champions, and many novice runners just beginning their athletic careers.  Each athlete has a compelling and unique story of their own, and together are able to inspire, educate and change the public’s perception of vision loss.

I am proud to introduce you to the 2013 visually impaired and blind field of runners taking part in the 2013 California International Marathon.

How do I volunteer to be a guide at next 2015 CIM? I am a 54 year old runner who has qualified for Boston numerous times as well as New York City marathon. I have a blind brother with retinitis pigmentosa. He is not a runner but I would like to be a guide to any legally blind runner who plans on finishing from 3:10 to 4 hours. My competitive drive is yielding to more worthy causes and I would love help
